Global Health Journey Short
Global Health Journey Short Term is a temporary international health insurance policy from Foyer for people travelling abroad. You can take out the policy for 3, 6 or 9 months if you are aged 55 or under, without a medical examination. It may therefore be suitable as temporary cover when moving abroad or to bridge the gap between two health insurance policies.
The policy covers both inpatient and outpatient care and is available with worldwide coverage, with or without the United States.

Table of contents
1.Coverage and features
The Short Term policy is suitable as temporary cover or for a shorter stay abroad.
- Policy term: You can take out the policy for 3, 6 or 9 months. If you initially choose 3 or 6 months, you can extend the policy during the term, up to a combined maximum of 9 months.
- Age: You can apply up to and including age 55.
- Acceptance: Applications are assessed on a moratorium basis. This means you will not be asked medical questions in advance. Existing medical conditions are therefore excluded from cover by default.
- Maximum benefit: Up to €500,000 per insured period.
- Inpatient cover: Covers unexpected hospital admissions in a private room, examinations and scans such as MRI and CT scans, surgery, and intensive care. The maximum benefit is €500,000.
- Outpatient cover: Reimburses up to €2,000 outpatient costs per period, subject to a 20% co-payment.
2.Benefits of Journey Short
- You can apply for a period of less than one year, up to a maximum of 9 months.
- The premium is relatively low.
- The policy is well suited as temporary cover.
- Acceptance is relatively quick because applications are assessed on a moratorium basis.
3.Points to consider
- The Short Term option is not suitable for long-term cover.
- Short and Basic have no deductible and always apply a 20% co-payment to outpatient cover.
- If outpatient costs are covered, 80% is reimbursed, up to a maximum of €2,000 per year.
- You cannot apply for another Short Term policy after the 9-month policy period has ended.
- You cannot cancel the policy before the end of the term.
- For periods longer than one year, Global Health offers Journey Long Term.
4.Premium, discounts and benefits
- Some countries are excluded as countries of residence. This means you cannot apply for the policy if you live in one of those countries. The application module will show whether your country of residence is eligible: if it is not available in the country list, Foyer cannot accept you as an insured person there.
- You can calculate the premium using the online application module.
5.How to apply
Apply through the
Global Health Journey online application module.
Help and tips for applying
The first question you will be asked is: “Do you plan to stay more than 9 months abroad?”
- If you select “No”, you will be offered the temporary option (Short).
- If you select “Yes”, you will continue to the long-term policy.
Next:
- You will calculate the premium, which is initially shown for a 3-month period. You can change the term to 6 or 9 months later.
- If you want coverage in the United States, you can select this when calculating the premium.
- You will not be asked medical questions, and your application will not be medically assessed. You will be asked whether you have ever had health insurance; it is important to enter those details.
- You will then enter the details of the policyholder and insured person or people.
6.Services after your policy starts
- In partnership with Teladoc Health, the policy provides free, unlimited access to telemedicine services in English, French, German and Spanish. These include online consultations, second opinions and mental health coaching.
- An extensive customer portal lets you submit claims and view your claims history and outstanding payments.
- Service hubs in different parts of the world provide access to medical support and help with claim-related issues.
